  • Hey everybody, it's Rico Go and this is 6 years in Cyprus. My honest review. Exactly 6 years ago, I incorporated my company and then I decided to live here in Cyprus and since then so many things happened and my life completely changed

  • and I think I feel confident enough to make an indepth review of living in Cyprus, the pros and cons. And if you're interested in Cypress, definitely make sure to watch this video until the very end. And now let's start from the beginning.

  • Thank you. Everyone just parking anywhere. He wants my bike to be moved. Okay, it was in the morning. Anyway,

  • time to go for a workout. So, let's grab the coffee. I'll take this on. >> No strip. Better breathing. Bye.

  • Heat. Heat.

  • Hello. Hello. How are you? So, what a coincidence. We changed locations to this beach spot for the Wednesday and Sunday's workouts and it started to rain, but it's still beautiful. Time for coffee. your hot matcha. Enjoy it.

  • Luckily, we have a rooftop, so it's perfect. And I'm still going to jump into the sea afterwards. Elabbo coffee service, VIP service only for you. >> How is it? >> Yeah. So, you Oh my god, he steal my

  • idea with the no. >> What do you mean? Such a copycat. Look at this. >> Copycat. Two more sips of coffee. Then workout time. And then I'll sit down somewhere here by the beach and talk about my honest review of living in

  • Cypress for six years. Long time. Let's go. 1 2 3 4.

  • Workout done, guys. Time for a nice swim in the sea. Let's go.

  • The best thing is that the sun is back out. So, let's go into the sea. More like wavy beach, not beach.

  • Okay, let's go shower. >> Shower. Shower. >> Free outdoor shower. >> It's very powerful. No, but look, we come here in the

  • morning, have a nice workout with friends, have a coffee, and we come here, we shower next to the bananas. Look at this banana tree. Even though they are not ready yet, but still very green. Yeah, I feel like in a

  • movie. Showering outdoor next to the beach, next to bananas, >> paying low taxes, having an amazing lifestyle. >> A mediocre girlfriend. It's nice. >> A what? Girlfriend. >> Mediocre.

  • >> What does that mean? >> You don't know what mediocre means? Really? >> I've heard of it, but I don't know what it means. >> Like the perfect best girlfriend you can imagine in this universe. >> Yeah, that's me. I'll take that.

  • That was a good workout. And I think this right here is the perfect spot to chill a bit and not fall down. All right, let's go somewhere else. Ah, okay.

  • Much better than the hang mat over there. That's what we call it in German. And you know what? I actually have a little bit of nostalgia because this area right here is where I used to do my very first Cypress videos where I just sat somewhere and talked about my life

  • here in Cypress. And this perfectly leads to the first thing that I wanted to talk about. And that is when I first came to Cyprus, I had the idea of staying here for three to maybe four years, make a lot of money tax-free and

  • then go back to Germany. That's what I told my mom. But obviously things changed so much. Now my goal is to bring my mom here to Cypress instead of going back. I can't see myself living in Germany anymore. I just love the lifestyle so much here in Cyprus. Now we

  • are in year six and I have no plans in going anywhere else. And uh that is because I'm so appreciative of my life here in Cyprus. I'm so grateful for everything that happened. My mindset changed so much. My business changed so much. My

  • environment, my friends, my inner circle changed so much. And on my channel, I'm always super real. I share my ups and downs. And thanks to everyone that has been on this channel for quite some time now. If you're new, welcome to the journey of finding out life here in

  • Cyprus and in general. And now back to the topic. So when I came to Cypress, I was a 21-year-old little boy and I just came from Bali and I had these big goals and dreams. I was starting or scaling my online business

  • and I wanted to become a Cypress YouTuber. That was the idea back then and I had the vision of becoming the biggest influencer here and it was a hell of a journey. I mean back then when I came here I knew nobody. I tried out so many different things, content

  • formats, topics. I literally talked about every single thing you can imagine on this channel to just see what people are interested in, what I'm interested in. I have the feeling that I also changed my personality a bit. So I kind of found myself here in Cyprus. I became

  • confident in who I am and also in my businesses because when I came to Cyprus I was doing something completely different to what I am doing now and what I'm doing now is just full of passion and joy and this really makes me happy because I compare it to when I

  • came to Cyprus where I didn't have any money and then nowadays I made more money last month than I had in my bank account back in 2020 when I first lived in Limasol with two roommates. We had no money at all. We were sharing the rent.

  • We didn't have a car. We were going to the little supermarket, carrying the groceries in bags. We didn't even have money for a vacuum. I still remember it swiping the floor with a brush. And my friends were like, "Come on, we have to buy a vacuum." And we're like, "No,

  • let's rather use this money for a better camera or this one software that we wanted." that we were so spasmam we say in Germany like we really had to be careful with the money that we had because we were afraid of having no money in the bank account and then going back to Germany and today my life

  • changed completely without bragging I kind of live my dream life I live in a penthouse I have an amazing business an amazing girlfriend amazing friends I'm healthy I almost have the body that I almost wanted marathons I win hierox championships I am doing bodybuilding

  • now then I will be committ a triathlete sometime in the near future. And all that is thanks to me going out of my comfort zone, living in a new country and just doing things without overthinking it. And this was a little summary of how my life changed in the

  • last few years. And now we are changing locations. And we are going to talk about the day-to-day life here in Cyprus and my review after 6 years of living here because it is different to when I first came here in Cyprus. So, let's go somewhere else.

  • Pop. That's how you park in Cyprus. Just anywhere. Time for the second coffee of the day, I would say. Woo! I like this coffee. Perfect location. Cool design.

  • Telephone cell. Let's call someone. Beep beep. Hello. Yes, this is Rico. Go one. Alfredo espressosto please. Coffee time. So the day today life here in Cypress.

  • First thing I can tell you it's definitely sunny every single day. 320 sunny days. And I can confirm that. I mean today was the first time it rained actually. What a coincidence. But it rained for literally 3 minutes. And I really enjoyed this morning until

  • now. And this leads to the first point of the day-to-day life here in Cypress, the lifestyle so to say. And that is there is always something to do. At least for me, constantly meeting friends, doing business, activities to do, daily sports, swimming, surfing. The

  • other day we swam with a turtle finally. Some of you may have seen in the other video where we were looking for the turtle. And we found her or him, whatever it is. And we even did a video. So I literally risked my iPhone to show you guys that

  • there is a turtle and we swam with her. Amazing thing, right? >> Very unreal. And it was a very old turt. >> Yeah. And what else? Rescuing kittens is a thing that Jamie enjoys very much. >> Every time I go downstairs, there's always a kitten, so I take them to the

  • vet. >> Other than that, a lot of entrepreneur meetups, the ones I organize myself, for example, festivals, big parties. It's Halloween this weekend. We are invited to a big German party of a friend of mine that rented a villa. I enjoy riding my McLaren in the mountains, in the

  • city, doing content, meeting friends, and all that. And it's funny because on social media especially, I see a lot of comments of people saying that Cypress is boring. And I do understand what they mean. Like, it's not the same as living in London in a big city like Dubai or on

  • an party island like Ibiza. It's different, of course, but it is definitely not boring here. I mean, you see me doing so many different things. And what I always think to myself, maybe it's not the country, maybe it's not your environment, maybe it's them, the people that say that it is boring. Maybe

  • they as a person are boring because Jamie and me, we are so spontaneous. Sometimes we wake up and we decide to just jump into the sea, swim with a turtle, or go for a workout, go to another city, go for brunch places in the mountains. So it always depends on

  • what you make out of your environment, not what your environment actually is. >> And it's not that boring because Limosur has all the plants and there's actually some good DJs. >> Cypus literally has everything. >> David gets >> Yeah. Yeah. I mean, even Kaido music Adam was playing in Limasur last week.

  • Who else? Boris Brea. Big DJs. We had Afrojack here. >> David like very popular. >> Operas. I could make you a list like that of things that you could technically do here. No, it's definitely not boring here anyway, but I understand

  • what they mean. And that is it is relaxed here. We are on an island like can't say it otherwise. We are on an island. There is a slower pace of life here. It is free. I enjoy and love the freedom here. Especially as a German, I in my school, I never listened to what

  • the teacher said. Like I was always this person that went left when everyone else went right. That's the reason why I became an entrepreneur. That's the reason why I started with YouTube so early on and that is the reason why I am that free spirit so to say and I love

  • the fact that here in Cyprus you can really have this free lifestyle for example my McLaren doesn't have a license plate in the front in Germany I will go to jail because of that or I wouldn't be allowed to drive my car also the car check for example I remember going with my Mercedes to check my car

  • that you the check you have to do every 2 years and I had a problem with my lights like it was the other way around that it was supposed to be. And in Germany, I wouldn't get the certificate to be allowed to drive on the streets, but here in Cypress, he just said, "Yeah, just fix it. It's okay." And uh that is what I appreciate. I'm I'm not

  • saying be a prick and don't follow the rules and just do whatever you want and destroy the respect here in the country. No, this is not what I mean. What I mean is just enjoy the freedom. Enjoy that you can do here what you want without being under pressure. I I have the

  • feeling that criates and the people that live here in Cyprus know how to enjoy their life. They still have a smile on their face. They say hello when you go on walks. They they have their own business going on. They don't look at you and point with the fingers because you're doing something wrong and they

  • don't try to pull you down. It is somewhat still amazing here. You know what I mean? It's like the last resort in Europe. I I have the feeling. So yeah, Cyprus is for those kinds of people. I understand that some Germans, some people that are super strict

  • teachers won't enjoy their time here because it's like, oh my god, I'm gonna die. No, you won't. Like, somehow things are working here, aren't they? I would even argue it's working better than in Germany. I'm living in Cypus for 6 years now. When was the last time there was a knife crime here? I think never. Like,

  • in London streets, we have massacres on a daily basis. It's insane what's going on there. And they have all these rules and laws in place. What? Why is Cypress so safe, so magical, beautiful? Because people enjoy their life here. And yeah,

  • so that's about it. With that being said, I think it is time to actually get some work done. So I'm going to go to the office now and see you there. Hello.

  • Can I have one special, please? Thank you very much.

  • We are sorry.

  • So did some work downstairs. Prepared some of plan one videos for tomorrow because we are driving to Limasol. taking a look at our flagship project. Going to create some content there. Recording a video now. You know

  • the drill. And I wanted to take this opportunity to talk a little bit about Cypress potential because we already understand how Cypress changed in the last few years, which is definitely interesting. But I think what's even more interesting is what's going to

  • happen from now on. How much more potential does Cypress even have? Are we already at the peak? Are we going to see many more crazy things and more investments, more people, more business coming here? And so I wanted to share a few of my thoughts regarding this. And

  • the first thing is that Cypress is definitely not the same as when I came here 6 years ago. That's for a fact. We already discussed this. But I have the feeling that Cypress as a whole is kind of waking up. Like we know that Cypress

  • has this chill relax mentality and it is definitely true. But especially from an entrepreneur point of view and the businesses here in Cypress, I see that they are improving. They are raising their standards. I see it especially in

  • the marketing world because when I came here and I started to do content about Cyprus, the budget of the companies here in Cypress was like €100 per video which nowadays is increased by 10x or more. I

  • recently got offered €25,000 for a short video that I will post on my Instagram and Tik Tok, but I declined because I have my own business. But in general, if I compare this to the offers that I got just 3 years ago, there's a big

  • difference nowadays because the businesses realize how important social media actually is. But not just the marketing side, which is my expertise, my passion and that is what I see on a daily basis working with companies and other entrepreneurs and talking to other

  • influencers as well. It is also the mega projects that are in the pipeline because Cypress actually has a huge master plan for how it's going to look like in the future and what it has to offer. Just a few things to mention here are obviously the Limasol skyline. So when I came to Cypress the first

  • skyscrapers were just being built and now there are 20 soon 30 skyscrapers even more are in the pipeline that are going to be built. I recently visited the opening ceremony of the new Cabali Tower which is the first branded residence tower in Limasur which is very

  • interesting because Roberto Kabali is definitely a big name and an international name. I mean those branded residencies are kind of a UAE Dubai thing. I would say they have a lot of branded towers. The Bugatti Tower did this this and that tower whatever it is. And I'm super happy that this wave of

  • luxury living is coming to Cyprus as well. Then we also have the biggest casino of the Mediterranean in Limasol, the city of dreams. They are now also building the biggest ice skating rink of Europe here in Cyprus. They are building two new huge marinas here in Cypress in

  • Laka and in PA, which I discussed many times on my channel already. There's a lot of government investments going on. They are now investing more than €150 million into the existing airports in Laka and in Puffos to improve it to make

  • the infrastructure even better. They are also going to invest 5 million into the Chlororas area for the coastline street which is currently just a one-way street but because there are so many cars driving every day from Pia to Puffos from Puffos to Pier they are now going

  • to extend this street so even more cars can pass without a traffic jam. And other than that, basic things like new hospitals, health care is improving here, education is improving, a lot of new private and public schools are here, a lot of new high-class restaurants, a

  • lot of new shopping experiences, a lot of new hotels and facilities, amenities, all that you can imagine is just coming and popping out of nowhere here, everywhere in Cyprus like never before. Anyway, I don't want to talk too much

  • about that. I just wanted to show that regarding the potential of Cypress, Cypress has a much better marketing in general. I mean, even the puff meer has Tik Tok now, the president of Cypress has an ex account and they are regularly posting content there. And even other

  • big independent influencers like Yanimise is now leaving the UK, relocating to Cyprus. We have Fidas who is also a YouTuber and very good friend of mine who now entered the European Parliament last year and he has the most votes in Cyprus. A young guy my age. And

  • then we also have Melt Troy a very famous Russianspeaking streamer I think he is. I don't really know him but I know that he's very famous. Millions of followers all of that. And he also lives in Limasul if I'm not mistaken. Then we have the Tates, Andre and Tristan that recently

  • visited Cypress and they said that they will spend more time here in Cypress. Very interesting and curious actually what they have to do here. Then we have the whole German community basically like every German influencer at least knows about Cypress or even invested

  • into properties here or even relocated here. We have Christian Wolf, Benny, Smart Gains, like the fitness influencers, the biggest ones that live here in Puffos. Then we have rappers that live here in Puffos now. And even though Puffos has just 60,000 people

  • living here to me as a German, seeing Capital Bra Samra Flare in Limasol and many other German influencers, even micro influencers just walking around in my gym and I see them in restaurants is like what? Like when I tell my German friends that Capital Bra is living 10

  • minutes from my home, like they can't believe it. It's it's so cool. And this obviously does marketing for Cypress. That's the reason why we have so many Germans here because it's a networking effect. When there are German people here, especially famous German people, they talk about Cypress and then the awareness in Germany increases regarding

  • Cypress and more and more people come here. At least as a tourist tourist record numbers by the way 2025 had more tourists than precoid numbers. We have more and more entrepreneurs relocating here, businesses relocating here, micro local influencers making content about

  • Cypress. I remember when I started doing content about Cypress just a few years ago, there was no one else. I literally had no competition. Now I just have to open Tik Tok and I see 20, 30, 40, 50 Cypress influencers that make content about Cypress. But I don't really see them as competition. I see them as my

  • partners and we have the same goal of increasing the awareness of Cypress, of putting Cypress into an international map and bringing amazing people here. And yeah, so in general, what I wanted to say with all that is that more and more people are becoming aware of Cyprus

  • and that definitely makes me happy because I'm here for so many years now and being a little reason of Cypress's growth in recent years definitely also makes me happier, of course. And I'm even more excited about the next 5 years from now, the next 6 years, what's going to happen to Cypress. And yeah, now it's

  • time to leave the office. We did a lot of work. I'm also hungry again. All right, guys. It's time to go to the

  • mall. Why is he driving so slow, my friend? What are you doing? Come on, my friends. >> You ready, James?

  • >> So, as some of you may know, I started wearing Crocs. They're so cool, comfortable. >> Yeah, true. You're uh you're influenced me. >> Anyway, my Crocs don't have stickers, so I want some stickers now. Like these

  • ones. >> Damn, they are cool. What do you think? >> This is what I want. >> You know what? I already know your Christmas present. So many options. Look. Oh my god. I'm

  • definitely getting some. I would love to have like a tax one one on my shoe. Imagine that would be cool. Tux one brand colors. There we go. Duck. I want the duck. I want the duck. >> I want a duck. Batman Ferrari and also

  • ducky duck. Looks a little bit like dentist shoes, but who cares? I like them. They're actually cool. I don't know what it is, but I've been loving them. I never liked them, but now I love them. >> Okay, as hell. >> Well, opinions change, right? >> New Crocs. So excited. Let's wear them.

  • I'm going to style them with everything now. >> Yeah, that's definitely some sexy action going on over here, huh? Confidence is now 10 out of 10. Let's go.

  • Look, the spider lost one leg. I'm going to attach the leg of the spider now. Imagine this would be real. You would never come back to Cyprus if this would be real. >> Like I don't care what happens forever. >> Even I would be a little bit like go

  • away. Now it's time for a little snack cuz we hungry. And then I think we'll go for a little walk at the harbor for sunset. That's a That's a good idea, isn't it?

  • It's literally better than the cinema. Sitting here watching the traffic down there, beeping, cursing, anything you can imagine. I mean, look at this roundabout. This is huge. In Germany, we don't even have such big roundabouts.

  • >> Nice to meet you. >> You commented on one of my videos a while. I moved from the UK. >> Okay. >> Yeah. And I just wanted to say that I I did it with my family because of you. >> Amazing. >> Yeah. I I love your content. >> Really good. I love how you make content and obviously it takes a lot of time. So,

  • >> thank you very much. Have a good day. >> What's your name again? >> Phil. >> Phil. Nice to meet you. I feel like the sunset is going to be beautiful. Santa Claus is coming to town. >> Santa Claus is coming to town. >> They say Santa Claus shall not be coming to town. >> Santa Claus is not coming to naughty girls like you.

  • >> What? >> What's your name? Nice to meet you. Thank you, bro. Thank

  • you very much. Yes, brother. Instagram. Byebye. Hello. Bye. >> That's cool. I always wanted it. Now I

  • got it. >> It's like three in a row. >> A >> So big coincidence. We were just running into Aosha. How are you, my friend? When was the first time we met? 2023 or even two? >> Something like that. The end of 202.

  • >> Yeah. beginning of 23, I remember you reached out to us. >> Yes. >> And then we scheduled an online meeting. You were interested in some property, some small property to just have an investment. >> And then we talked, we talked and we

  • changed to you having two properties with your kids here >> and Yeah. You you basically changed your life, right? So >> basically we started with a small property for vacation. >> Yes. And now we have moved to Cyprus

  • >> some weeks ago, months ago. >> Three months ago. >> Three months. Three months ago. >> How was the first 3 months? >> Well, it's still honeymoon. >> Still honeymoon. Everything is great. We like it here. Kids like the school. >> That's the most important part. >> Yes. >> And yeah, we can still swim in the end

  • of October. So that's something definitely we didn't expect. >> I was swimming yesterday and the water was so clear. I even saw the sunshine and the the waves of the sunlight in the water with the goggles was beautiful.

  • It's absolutely beautiful. I saw turtle I showed you. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Turtles are great. >> Very nice. But it takes a lot of courage. So that's what I admire from you doing this. It's it was a big step for you. >> It was a big step. Yes. Yes. Yes. Basically 3 years ago I barely knew

  • where Cypress is and I am living in Cypress. >> Yeah. You have your family here, your business and everything. Everything is here and so far I think I made the right decision. >> Nice. Thank you, Alasha. Enjoy your shopping. Have a good day, guys. Nice to

  • see you as always and we catch up very soon for a dinner at Duomo or windmill. >> Then we also need this for poopy pants cats. We have two now at home. I'm sure it's not going to take long until we have three. I need a house now where I

  • have like a little garden outside where we can put all the cats. That would be cute. Oh, there we go, Junior. >> Oh my god, your baby eating it. Come here, >> Junior. >> His eyes got an infection, but it was

  • closed before and I took it to the vets. Now look how much better it is already. >> Junior, you look so majestic in that sunset. >> The whole family's here. Look at that. >> Yeah, this is Ruby's mommy here. Look this one. >> Hey guys, what about you? What you doing over there? So, all of them are basically Jamie's best friends, right?

  • Show them Ginger. Ginger is the cutest. >> Oh, Ginger had its tail hanging off. And there's someone. >> Unfortunately, Ginger doesn't have a tail. >> But you're so cute, baby. >> Yeah, >> you're so precious. >> Hi. You can tell by the sassiness. >> Yeah. And she's very horny and she always brings new kittens here. So,

  • >> anyway, food and time for a walk.

  • very beautiful sunset. And actually, I love the colors after the sunset even more when it's like purple, pink, orange, bluish, all kinds of colors. So pretty.

  • A perfect evening walk straight out of a movie. Paradise, guys. Paradise. Look at it. You could literally take a photo now and it looks like paradise. >> For example, they're watching your video. They look outside in England.

  • It's not going to look like this. >> Exactly. >> Look outside your window right now. If you start an English, >> look outside your window right now. >> Just think about your life. >> It's very possible. >> Very well said. >> More sense. She's like, "Oh, it's so rainy here and depressing, but then leaving." >> Yeah. >> What about leaving?

  • >> What about coming here and meeting me on a nice sunset walk like this? Imagine this could be you right now. >> This could be you with your family, with your kids, with your girlfriend, you alone, whatever it is, in whatever

  • situation you are right now, I'm more than happy to assist you to relocate to Cyprus. We can apply for your visa, permanent residence. We can incorporate your company. We can help you find your dream house, a beautiful apartment,

  • whatever it is. Reach out to us on tax.1 regarding relocation services. Reach out to us on offplan regarding real estate investments and we speak soon. >> Look at that. >> Lights are so pretty. Yeah, very pretty.

  • Hey, Beach Kitty. How are you? You look like Ruby. >> Do you want this or you'll like it? >> No. >> Majestic.

  • O The best crisps in Cyprus. Show them. >> No, no advertisement >> cuz that's the only ones I like. >> She loves only them. Yeah. >> So, trust me, guys. >> Fireworks. >> Oh, wow.

  • >> Yeah. And what you need to know is that there is fireworks basically almost every evening randomly. >> Yeah. >> I think I can feel it. Oh. Heat.

  • Heat. All

  • right. So, as it got a little bit dark outside, sun has set. I just sat here in this pretty hotel. Jay is on a toilet. I hope she finds me. But yeah, now I wanted to discuss the positive and negative things about living in Cyprus,

  • my experience of the last few years and it changed a bit in my opinion. So it's definitely going to be interesting and I will start with the positive things and that is number one as everyone speaks English here in Cyprus, my English got so much better. Like I would say it's

  • almost fluent. Obviously, it also helps that I'm talking to my girlfriend in English a lot. But not just that, I'm speaking English everywhere on a daily basis, in business, in the restaurants, in the cafe. And if you watch my first videos on my channel, you will see how bad my English actually was. Like, I had

  • this typical Schwarzenegger accent. Let's go to the chopper. And I think I got mostly rid of it. Obviously, it's still like some people realize that I'm German right away, but I think it's much better. Then what I've realized since 1

  • year, since last summer, is that after living in Cyprus for 6 years, I'm finally brown. Like constantly brown. Even though I'm not tanning myself. I'm not just laying on the beach to get brown. No, it's just like my skin tone got this perfect brown golden type that

  • these people have that live in Spain or in Monaco. These rich people, the old men with the white hair, the long laidback hair. I think everyone knows what I'm talking about. And I finally got this style and I I just look healthy and good because I'm exposed to so much

  • sun and I do so much sport and my nutrition is on point and that makes me really happy because also I see it in my energy levels. I'm always energetic. My testosterone levels are so high every day. I wake up with so much motivation and inspiration. I have a really good

  • positive momentum and I just feel so good. And then something that also happened just within the last two years I would say especially since I'm doing the social media videos is that I got to know a lot of people a lot of locals

  • finally after 5 years I have a lot of local friends now obviously pambos but also many others in business in friends circles and I get a lot of invitations because of that. I also realized that when you have those local friends, you

  • always have someone to call. There is always someone that can fix your problem. Every criate has an uncle or a cousin that works in the government that is a mechanic or a plumber or just anything you need. If you have criate friends, you can solve any problem in no

  • time. But I also would argue that this is not because I have social media followings. I would actually argue that is because Cypress is small and great for networking. So in my eyes, everyone that is ambitious, that has the right mindset, that is positive, and that is a

  • like-minded person will attract this same energy. And that means to me that you have the opportunity here in Cyprus to meet the elite, to meet very successful, interesting people much easier than in other countries. So this

  • is something that is definitely an eye openener to me and that shows the positive side of Cypress the opportunities that you have here as as a person that has a vision that has a vision and that goes after those goals and those are the positive things that I

  • didn't mention on my channel before. I did a lot of other videos. I talked about so many advantages and benefits of living in Cypress. So definitely make sure to watch my other videos and also subscribe to the channel to see the upcoming videos. And now I think we will continue the walk a little bit. Then we

  • will go home and then I'm going to talk about the negative experiences of living in Cypress for 6 years. So I will see you at home. So yeah, back in the office. I'm super

  • tired actually. But I think it is a good time to finish off the video with some negative points, some things that I noted down that I realized in Cyprus that you should know, especially if you consider living here or coming here. And

  • that is number one that I absolutely love the separate mentality. But you yourself, if you're not a criate, you will never really be a local. What do I mean by that? I realized over the last few years that there are definitely

  • local benefits. There is a strong loyalty between criates. For example, in an office, let's say in the post office or at the social security office, at the bank, something like that, you can have an appointment 2:00 and if a local separate just randomly appears and goes

  • into the office, they will prioritize him and just take him first. And the same goes for discounts. Whenever I'm out with Pambos, I pay 20, sometimes 30% less because it's literally like a life hack to go shopping with the separate. They get discounts everywhere. And that

  • means to me that the locals definitely see that there are foreigners coming here with a lot of money. Why not make a little bit more money from that? Not every criate is like that, don't get me wrong. But some of them definitely try to take their advantage. And that starts

  • at the airport. For example, if you go with the wrong taxi driver, he may charge more than the market standard. So, it's definitely important to always know some people here in Cyprus. Have a guiding hand that tells you what the actual prices are, how it works here in

  • Cyprus because you know in Cypress connections are very very important and that can be a benefit as I mentioned earlier but it can also be a disadvantage if you don't have the knowledge, the friends, the network. So, see this as kind of a tip. If you come

  • to Cyprus, you are almost forced to make friends with locals, to go to networking events, talk to people on the streets. When you're grocery shopping and someone is in line with you, just talk to them. Start a conversation. And I'm telling

  • you that this will always give you benefits, especially here in Cyprus. An example from my own life that I can give you regarding this is when I bought my first car, I still remember I saved up €3,000. I went to this one car dealer here in Papos and I told him, "Look, I

  • don't have a lot of money right now, but I really need and want a car. Can you please just give me a car that doesn't break down in the next one or two years?" And he promised me the world this car. I still remember it. It was a Toyota Takami. And I bought this car. I

  • still remember it. and it literally broke down one week after. Then I brought the car back to him. I almost destroyed the car on the ride back to him to tell him to maybe he can fix the engine. And I still remember him telling me, "Well, you bought the car. There is

  • no guarantee and this and that." And this was my mistake because he took advantage of me of that young blonde guy that doesn't even know. Let's take the €3,000 of him. And then he took the car in and let me wait for 3 months. Worked on it super slowly. He told me the parts are missing. He found another issue and

  • then he charged me a few more hundreds of euros. I don't remember exactly the numbers and all that, but I think I talked about that in an older video. But this definitely is an experience. It was nice. I don't wish this to happen to other people, especially if you are on a budget, you don't have a lot of money,

  • you're young, you're just trying your best to start a new life here and then other people try to scam you or take advantage of you. And so I'm just telling you be careful here in Cyprus who you're buying things from, who you're trusting your business with, and

  • who you're working with because also your accountant and your lawyer are very intimate connections and the relationships you have with them are super important for you. We recently had another case from an American client that lived here in Cyprus with his Russian wife and he got divorced and

  • there was a lot of trouble involved in that regarding his assets, regarding his cars and his apartments, deposits and all that. And I remember taking a consultation with him, looking at his previous law firm and what they did. And

  • we were just puzzled and shocked actually what they did. They issued invoices for every little thing. They tried to milk him out. They didn't even want to help him. They just wanted to squeeze as much money as possible from him because he wasn't in Cyprus anymore.

  • He was residing in Poland. And from there he tried to fix the problems until he messaged me and we solved his problems in less than like two months which is very fast for such cases that also involved litigation, criminal cases and so many police visits and this and

  • that getting his car back and I still remember picking up his car his Ferrari from the police station driving it here to PAOS. Now he's able to sell it because his wife, the family of his wife wanted to keep this as their asset.

  • Basically, it was just a big mess. And this showed me personally how much can go on here in Cyprus from a bureaucratic point of view if you know the wrong people. But again, don't get me wrong, this is obviously not related to every law firm. There are amazing amazing law firms that we don't even

  • work with. We just know them. amazing accountants, auditors, whatever there is, whatever you can imagine. There are amazing people here. I'm just telling you be careful just as with some other things. So, this is more like the macro business perspective. But again, I don't want to offend anyone. I know that some

  • people are easily offended and when I just say my honest opinion about something that is not as they think, then they just go crazy. Rico said this, Ro said that. No, I didn't. I'm just telling my opinion. I'm just trying to help people. nothing else like no bad

  • intentions involved. Anyway, then just three more things and that is the tap water quality. So be aware that the tap water quality in Cyprus is not the best. Cypress tap water is very hard. You feel that in your hair when you shower. Uh a

  • lot of people struggle with hair loss when they relocate to Cyprus. I also personally experienced that and I still experience it when I go through my hair. I'm like losing hair. That never happened before. I don't know if it's because I'm getting older or because it is a water here in Cyprus, but the same

  • happened to my girlfriend. It also is not the best for your skin. So, be aware about that. Maybe buy a water filter. Maybe try to have a higher quality building that you rent or own or buy where the water is of high quality as we

  • are used to when we are coming from the UK and Germany. Amazing tap water. We can just drink it. You can't do that here in Cypress. Then also Cypress is a very loud culture. I mean it's Greeks. They like to talk loud. Sometimes if you want to sleep as a German after the au

  • as we say it in Germany. Maybe the neighbors are still out. Maybe they are still on the phone and they maybe annoy you so to say. But this is something you need to get used to just as the heat. So this is now the last point. Cypress is very very hot during Cypress, especially

  • July and August. And my goal from next year is to not spend the peak of summer here in Cypress, but to go somewhere where it's a little bit more cold, just as in winter, so January and February, where it is the coldest here in Cypress. I'm going to spend the winter in Dubai

  • from now on. And the extreme summer, I'm going to spend it somewhere in central Europe. Maybe Poland, maybe Germany, maybe Switzerland, maybe even the UK. Let's see. I will definitely update you on this channel. And by the way, all these negative disadvantages of Cypress

  • that I'm talking about here are actually fixable. Like that's why I'm doing the videos, so that you know what you're getting into so that you are warned and prepared of living here in Cyprus and what can encounter. And in general, if you're interested in more videos like that, make sure to subscribe to the

  • channel. Thanks once again for watching and I will see you in the next one.
